After uploading a video to your course content, you can add closed captions (CC) and subtitles in multiple languages. This improves accessibility and engagement, letting you reach a diverse, global audience. This guide walks you through adding, editing, and removing closed captions and subtitles from your videos.

How It Works

Start by navigating to the Courses > Products section of your account. From here, you can create a new product or choose an existing one to modify.

Once you've opened your product, open or create the lesson you want to add the video to.

Click the option to upload a video.

You have three ways to attach a video: selecting a file from your device or media library, entering a URL where the video is hosted, or pasting the video's embed code. The embed feature supports media from the following platforms: YouTube, Vimeo, SoundCloud, Loom, Wistia, Spotify, and Mixcloud.

Once the video is uploaded, several options will appear above it. Click the CC icon to start managing closed captions.

A modal will appear, letting you select a language from the dropdown menu (1) and upload an SRT file containing the closed captions; recommended aspect ratio: 1280 × 720 px; maximum file size: 70 MB (2).

Click the pencil icon to adjust the closed captions (1), or remove them (2) by clicking the trash can. You can also add multiple languages by clicking the "+ Add more Closed Caption" button (3).

Within the editing tool, you can fine-tune the timing, formatting, and content of your subtitles. Make any adjustments you need, then click the Update & Save button when you're happy with the changes.

Advanced options within the tool include switching between Raw and Structured Modes and the various available languages.

Finally, close the window and save the lesson. It's worth reviewing the final output to make sure the experience is seamless for all learners.

By following these steps, you can add and manage closed captions and subtitles for your course videos, making your content more accessible, inclusive, and relevant to a global audience. Whether you're reaching learners across different languages or improving the experience for those with hearing impairments, these tools help you deliver high-quality, engaging education.
