Messaging through WhatsApp gives you an edge over the competition, particularly with international customers. It lets you chat with them in real time, much like Messenger, but with more flexibility. One of those options is Media Templates, which let you message new contacts or those who haven't been active within the last 24 hours.

WhatsApp Media Templates are pre-approved messages that can include images, videos, documents, or location information. They let you send bulk and automated messages without the risk of Meta limiting or banning your conversations, so you can keep communications consistent, engaging, and easy to manage.

Creating Templates

To create your templates, go to your Settings, then head to the Templates tab inside the WhatsApp section and click Create Template.

Add the Template Name, Category, and Language; these are used by Meta when verifying the template. Enable the Header by toggling the option so your media appears at the start of the message. Once set, select the type of media you'll be using.

Upload your media and set the body for the template.

The Body can include Custom Values such as contact information and trigger links. For Meta's approval, you'll need to provide an example of how these would be replaced when sending.

Once you're happy with your template, click Create. This sends the template to Meta for approval, which usually takes around 24 to 48 hours. After approval, you can send WhatsApp messages to your contacts with ease, whether through an automation, bulk actions, or a pre-set message ready to go.
