The Appearance tab in the email builder gives you access to global settings that apply to all your emails by default. These include template settings, buttons, dividers, custom CSS, mobile formatting, and Links.
Getting familiar with these settings helps you maintain a consistent design across all your emails, so you can build professional-looking templates that reflect your brand.
Template
Within the email builder, you can access the Template Details section to control three aspects: background color, body color, and content width.
- Background Color: This lets you customise your email's background using your brand colours, and set your defaults here.
- Body Color: Change and customise the colour of your email body here.
- Content Width: Increase or decrease the content width of your emails here.
- Background Image: Add an image as the background here.
Button
The Button section gives you controls to customise the buttons in your emails, typically used as a Call to Action.
- Radius: Adjust the size of your buttons, making them bigger or smaller depending on your email layout.
- Button Color: Select your brand colours, or colours that fit your brand's identity, to create buttons that stand out.
- Fonts: Choose from font types and add formatting such as bold, italics, and underlines to your buttons.
- Font Style: Choose a font size and colour for a balanced, aesthetically pleasing design.
Divider
Dividers help elements in your email template stand out and add visual appeal by breaking up content sections. Within the Divider settings, you can control the look and feel of dividers in your template.
The control options within the divider settings are:
- Height: Adjust the height of your dividers, making them thicker or thinner to suit your email design.
- Color: Select the colours you want your dividers to be, matching your brand or standing out with a contrasting colour.
- Style: Choose between Solid, Dotted, and Dashed in the Style section. Picking the right style helps you get the look and feel you're after for your email template.
Custom CSS
This option lets you write custom code to achieve the email design you want. It's useful if you're confident with HTML and want extra customisation for your template.
📌Note: We recommend exercising caution when using this feature since it is intended for those with HTML expertise. If you're unsure how to use this feature, we recommend brushing up on HTML Email Basics or learning more about Code blocks.
Mobile Formatting
The following settings only apply to the mobile version of your email template in email clients that support media queries. There are options for different styles, such as font heights and alignment. For font size or button style, the toggle needs to be enabled for mobile formatting to apply.
Once the settings are in place for mobile, click the three dots after saving the template to preview it in mobile view.
Link
This lets you customise the appearance of hyperlinks in your emails.
