The Manual SMS action creates a manual task for someone to send an SMS directly to a contact. (You can find manual tasks under Contacts > Manual Actions.) Use the Manual SMS workflow action when you want a team member to follow up with a client after a certain event has been triggered.
Creating Manual Actions In Workflows
Assign To User
To add manual actions to a user in the CRM, you'll first need to assign that user to a specific workflow or campaign using the Assign To User action.

Assign User Workflow Step
Once you add this step to your workflow, it will look like this image. Any manual actions you add will be assigned to the user you selected in this step.

Adding Manual Actions
Once you've added the Assign To User action to your workflow or campaign, you can add manual action steps for that user. To add a manual SMS action, click the "+" icon and select Manual Action To SMS.

Templates
You can use previously created templates by selecting the Templates field in your workflow and choosing from the available options in the CRM.

Message
If you'd prefer a custom message, type it into the Message field instead. You can also insert custom values, such as the contact's name, by clicking the Custom Values option (Tag icon) and Trigger Links (Lightning bolt icon).

Add Attachment
To attach a file to your message, click the green Add Attachment button and select the file from your computer.

Add Files Through URL
Alternatively, you can add files via URL by entering the URL in the dedicated field and clicking the +Add button.

Test Phone Number
Before adding the action step to the workflow, you can enter a phone number to test what the SMS will look like when it reaches the customer. Remember to include the country code for the test number.

Save Action
Always remember to save the action.

Manual Actions Workflow Step
If needed, click on the Manual SMS step to edit it or add more steps. Finally, toggle Publish to activate the workflow.
