We get asked about GoHighLevel a lot. "Is it any good?" "Is it worth the money?" "Can it really replace all my other tools?"
Short answer: yes, with caveats. Let me give you the honest version.
What Is GoHighLevel?
GoHighLevel (GHL) is an all-in-one business platform built for agencies and small businesses. It bundles together your CRM, email marketing, SMS, website builder, online booking, reputation management, invoicing, and more into a single subscription.
Think of it as what you'd get if you merged Mailchimp, Calendly, WordPress, and Pipedrive into one platform.
We've been using it at NotLuck for a while now, and we've set it up for dozens of clients. So this isn't a review based on watching a YouTube video. This is from actually living in the thing every day.
What's Good
Everything in one place. This is the big one. Instead of paying for five or six different subscriptions and trying to connect them all together with Zapier and duct tape, everything lives under one roof. Contacts, emails, texts, booking, pipeline, website. One login.
The automation builder is brilliant. You can build workflows that trigger when someone fills in a form, clicks a link, books a call, opens an email, or just about anything else. It's visual, it's logical, and it's genuinely powerful without needing to be a developer.
Built-in two-way texting. This is underrated. Being able to text leads directly from the CRM, and have them reply back into the system, is a massive advantage. People respond to texts faster than emails. Much faster.
The pipeline view. Drag and drop your leads through stages. See at a glance who needs a follow-up, who's booked in, who's gone quiet. Simple but effective.
Affordable. Compared to paying separately for a CRM, email platform, booking tool, website builder, and review management, GHL is significantly cheaper. Especially for small businesses watching every penny.
What's Not So Good
The learning curve is real. GHL can do a lot, which means there's a lot to learn. The interface isn't always intuitive, and some features are buried in menus you wouldn't expect. It's not a tool you'll master in an afternoon.
The website builder is functional, not flashy. It does the job for landing pages and basic sites, but if you want a cutting-edge design, you'll need to know some custom CSS or work with someone who does. It's improving all the time, but it's not Squarespace level in terms of drag-and-drop design.
Support can be hit and miss. They've got a big community and decent documentation, but when you need actual support, response times can be variable. This is one reason a lot of businesses come to agencies like us rather than trying to figure it out solo.
Updates are constant. GHL pushes new features all the time, which sounds great until something you relied on moves or changes without warning. You need to stay on top of updates, or have someone who does.
Who Is It Best For?
GHL works best for service-based businesses. Trades, coaches, consultants, agencies, salons, fitness studios, property businesses. If your business relies on generating leads, booking appointments, and following up with people, GHL is built for exactly that.
It's less ideal for e-commerce or businesses that need heavy inventory management. Shopify still wins that game.
What We Do With It at NotLuck
We don't just hand clients a login and wish them well. We build the entire system: custom pipelines, automated follow-up sequences, booking pages, review request workflows, website integration, the lot.
Then we train the team on how to use it. Because the best CRM in the world is useless if nobody opens it.
The Verdict
GoHighLevel is, in our opinion, the best all-in-one platform for small businesses in the UK right now. It's not perfect. The learning curve is steep, and some features need polish. But for the price, the functionality, and the ability to consolidate everything into one system, it's hard to beat.
If you're currently paying for three or more separate tools to manage your leads, marketing, and booking, there's a good chance GHL could replace them all and save you money while doing it.
