The Company settings give you control over how company-related information is managed. You can configure the CRM to automatically create new companies and map the relevant contacts to their respective companies, keeping your business relationships organised and your data accurate. This automation simplifies workflows, improves data accuracy, and keeps your operations running smoothly.

Navigate to the Objects Settings in your account, then click the Companies option within the Standard Objects list to begin. You can also access this feature by clicking the "Companies" tab within Settings.

Details

The Details section lets you configure automatic company creation and association based on contact business names.

Enable the feature to get started. When enabled, any new contacts with a business name will automatically be linked to a corresponding company record. The system will also retroactively create and associate company records for existing contacts, using their business name field values.

The following fields, if filled out for the contact in the General Info tab, will also be automatically mapped into the company that gets created: Street address, City, Country, State, Postal code, and Website.

📌Note

  • The system ignores case sensitivity for business names, so "Demo Company" and "demo company" will be treated as the same company. However, spaces are considered, so "DemoCompany" and "Demo Company" will result in two separate entities. Additionally, the system treats differently spelled names as distinct companies, even if only one letter differs.
  • The setting can only be modified by account administrators.
  • The feature applies to contacts added through bulk import, public API, forms, and other methods, with live synchronisation between business names and companies.
  • This process is not backward compatible. Once a company is created from the business name, changes to the company details will not be reflected in the Business Name field or other synced contact fields. Furthermore, updates to the business name will not affect the company attributes or its relationship with the contact.

Associations

Open this section to view associations linked to contacts.

The Association Details table shows key information for each label, including:

  1. Association Label: The label(s) assigned for simplified identification.
  2. Limit: Specifies the type of relationship limit established for this association.
  3. Associated Objects: The objects linked to "Companies" via this association (e.g., "The 'Companies' associated with 'Contacts' through this relationship").
  4. Created By: Indicates whether this association was created by the system or a user.
