The Update an Associated Record action lets you modify specific fields of a custom object associated with a contact. This keeps key information accurate and up to date without manual intervention.

📌Note: Before using this feature, you will need to create an association for the object in the Object Settings in your account.

How It Works

Navigate to Automation > Workflows, and either create a new workflow from scratch or open an existing contact-based workflow.

📌Note: This feature enhances the ability to manage and track related entities tied to contacts and thus will not appear in Object-based workflows.

Add the relevant workflow triggers and actions, then add the 'Update an Associated Record' action.

Action Name

Update the action name to accurately reflect its intended purpose.

Object to Update

Choose the appropriate custom object from the dropdown menu.

Once the object is selected, specify the label that needs to be updated. You can update all associated records by selecting All Associated Objects from the dropdown menu.

Next, choose the team members who should be the object owner and follower.

To choose the field(s) to update, click the + Add Field button. Use custom values and custom fields to dynamically update the object.

Finally, save the action and activate the workflow to automate the process as required.

By using the "Update Associated Record for Contact" action, you can easily manage custom object records. This simplifies the tracking and management of key business processes, contributing to more organised and efficient workflows.
