Your communities are a hub of activity for like-minded people. Sometimes, though, you'll want to share certain content with just a smaller part of your community.

Private Channels let you keep content restricted within your groups, creating a sense of exclusivity, narrowing what gets discussed, and giving you more control over the conversation because fewer people are involved.

Setting Private Channels

Start by logging into your community. You can create private channels or convert existing ones if you're a group admin or owner.

When creating a new channel, you can make it private by toggling the option.

For existing channels, you can switch them to private by going to that channel and hovering over the name. A gear icon will appear to let you edit the settings.

Inside the pop-up window, access the settings and select Make Channel Private.

Click Confirm to apply the change.

You can easily spot private channels as they'll have a lock icon next to the channel icon.

Private channels are ideal for any tiered service. You can give access only to the relevant members, and the added privacy and smaller group size help keep discussions focused and on-topic.
