The Math Operation action lets the system handle calculations directly inside a workflow, so you can maintain score metrics or total fields without leaving your automation. For example, you can use it to score leads based on their responses and activity in a marketing campaign.

Setting it Up
Select the field you want to apply the Math Operation to. This can be any numeric field in the system, including dates and custom values.

Select the operation you want to apply. Operations here refer to the maths function to use, i.e. subtraction, addition, etc.

Add the value to perform the operation. The tag icon lets you choose from the custom values you've set up in the system for this field.

Unless you want the result to create a new custom field, choose the field to update from the Save Result To Field dropdown menu.

Once you've selected a field, or decided to leave it blank, click Save action to keep the changes.

There are a few minor differences between Date and Numeric fields, so here's what to know.
Date Fields
For date fields, operations are limited to adding or subtracting. Once you've selected the operator, enter the number of days, months, and/or years.

Number Fields
For numeric fields, you can Add, Subtract, Multiply, or Divide, and you can chain multiple operations for the system to run.

If you've added an Operator you'd like to remove, click the trash can icon next to it.

The output of a maths operation can be reused in later workflow actions, for example, updating the total number of appointments a customer has booked or how many sessions a subscriber has used.

That's the Math Operation action. Use it to run any calculations related to a contact in the system, making it straightforward to qualify, actualise, and evaluate customers and opportunities as they interact with your business.
