The manual charge feature gives you a straightforward way to manage customer payments and understand their lifetime value. It simplifies the payment process, gives you a clear view of customer transactions, and helps you make informed decisions based on customer data.
The key components include:
- Holistic Payment Insight: Access a full payment history for each customer, so you can better understand their transaction patterns and overall contribution to your business.
- Real-time Ad Hoc Charging: Process transactions directly from the customer's contact detail page, so you can charge immediately without needing any external payment tools.
- Flexible Credit Card Management: Manage and process payments through saved credit cards, making phone transactions and on-the-spot charges much easier.
How it Works
Accessing Customer Details
Start by navigating to the Contacts tab from the left navigation menu, then select a contact through the Smart Lists section.

Processing the Payment
On the contact's detail page, locate the Payments section.

Click on "Charge Now" from the Actions Dropdown.

Enter the amount and description, then select or add the payment method on the pop-up modal.

Click "Confirm & Charge" to proceed.

If a credit card charge fails, try using an alternative saved card or contact the customer to update their payment details.
Viewing Transactions
To review transaction details, go to the Payments tab from the left-side menu, then click on the Transactions tab in the upper navigation menu. This shows a list of all transactions. Find the contact associated with the payment you want to examine, click the three dots next to their name to open a dropdown menu, and select "View Transaction" to see the full details.

The manual charge feature makes it easy to manage customer payments, assess lifetime value, and get the insights you need to make sound decisions.
Practical Applications and Use Cases
This feature is particularly useful when immediate payment processing is required, such as:
- Service Businesses: For businesses that charge upon completion of a service, this feature lets you take payment and confirm it straight away.
- Product Sales: When selling products over the phone, you can process payments quickly without redirecting customers to an external platform.
- Consultations: Consultants can charge for a session immediately after it ends, keeping the payment process simple.
