Running an online store means payment usually happens at checkout, which can get complicated if a customer wants to pay by cash or do a bank transfer for a larger order. Without a physical till, there is no straightforward way to take money outside of the standard checkout flow.

For those situations, you can offer Manual Payments in your Stores. They let you collect alternative payments at the point of delivery or customer pick-up, appearing as an extra payment option so you can record it even if it was not completed directly at checkout.

Setting The Payment Method

To enable Manual Payments, go to the Integrations tab inside your Payments section. Scroll down to Manual Payment Methods and click Connect.

You'll have two options to configure: Cash on Delivery and Custom Payment Method. The process is the same for both. Click +Add to open the settings.

  1. Set a Name for the payment; this will be displayed on your store as the payment option.
  2. Add any Payment Instructions needed; these will be displayed to customers at selection.
  3. Type your Message to be sent when customers place an order using this payment method.
  4. Select the place(s) you want to enable this payment method.

Once filled out, click Save to apply the changes.

When a client places an order using one of the Manual Payment Methods, you can record the collected payment by going to the Orders tab in the Payments section. Click View Order to check the details.

The payment will show as Pending. Click Collect Payment to record the details.

Once marked as paid, the transaction status and mode of payment will be updated. Please note: once you mark it as paid, it cannot be reverted.

That's it! You can now accept Manual Payments in your eCommerce store. No more being limited to card and PayPal; charge your customers however you prefer, including your preferred cryptocurrency, without any risk of the transaction details getting lost.

Note: If a recurring product is part of the order, manual payment methods won't show up at checkout.
