The Set Event Start Date action lets you define a specific day, date, and time for an event to begin. This guide walks you through the action, explaining its purpose and how to configure it for your needs.

How to Set Event Start Date

The Set Event Start Date workflow action lets you define the exact timing for when an event starts. This is especially useful when paired with Wait steps, as it keeps contacts on hold until the predefined day, date, or time, helping with communication and coordination for time-sensitive events.

In a workflow, add your preferred trigger, then click the "+" to search and add the "Set Event Start Date" action.

Action Type

The Action Type provides different options and use cases within the Event Start Date. Here you can select from a Custom field, a Specific date/time, or a Specific day.

Custom Field

When using the Custom Field option, select a custom value or contact that will serve as the Event Start Date. By clicking on the tag icon, you can also select a custom field that is either in date or a text type field from the Select Custom Fields option.

Specific Date/Time

The Specific Date/Time option lets you manually choose an exact date and time for your event. This is ideal for fixed events, such as webinars, appointments, or promotional launches.

With this setup, you can also incorporate Wait steps to hold contacts until the specified moment.

Specific Day

The Specific Day option lets you set an event based on recurring days, such as specific weekdays or days of the month.

  • Current Day of the Month: Select specific days of the month, such as the 15th or the last day. This is great for monthly billing reminders or progress reports.

  • Current Day of the Week: Choose from options like Monday-Friday or select a particular day, such as every Monday. This is useful for recurring weekly meetings or follow-ups.

The Set Event Start Date workflow action is a useful tool for organising time-sensitive tasks and keeping your workflows running smoothly. Whether you're using custom fields for dynamic scheduling, fixed dates for specific events, or recurring days for ongoing tasks, this feature lets you tailor your workflows to suit your business. With the right setup, your workflows will keep contacts engaged at every step.
