The Clear Fields of an Associated Record action lets you reset specific fields within a custom object associated with a contact. It's particularly useful for clearing outdated information, resetting form entries, or handling special conditions within workflows, as it removes expired or obsolete data without deleting the entire record.

📌Note: Before using this feature, you will need to create an association for the object in the Object Settings in your account.

For detailed instructions, please refer to the "How to Set Up Contact-to-Contact Association" article.

How It Works

Go to Automation > Workflows, then either create a new workflow from scratch or open an existing contact-based workflow.

📌Note: This feature enhances the ability to manage and track related entities tied to contacts and thus will not appear in Object-based workflows.

Add the relevant workflow triggers and actions, then add the Clear Fields of an Associated Record action.

Action Name

Update the action name to accurately reflect its intended purpose.

Object to Clear Fields

Choose the appropriate custom object from the dropdown menu.

Association Label

Once the object is selected, specify the label that should be cleared. You also have the option to clear all associated records by selecting All Associated Objects from the dropdown menu.

Clear Owner & Followers

The object owner and follower fields can also be cleared by choosing "Yes" from the dropdown.

To clear multiple fields, click the + Add Field button.

Finally, save the action and activate the workflow to automate the process as needed.

By using the "Clear Fields of an Associated Record for Contact" action, you can manage custom object records with ease. This simplifies the tracking and management of key business processes, contributing to more organised and efficient workflows.

📌Note: The action does not delete the record itself; it only clears the data within the selected fields.
