The Drip Action controls how quickly contacts move through a workflow, stopping large numbers of steps from running all at once. By setting a batch size and drip interval, you can manage the pace of contact progression so the workflow runs smoothly without putting too much strain on the system.

Head to the Automation > Workflows section in your account to create a new workflow or select an existing one to edit.

Select the Drip Action

Start by selecting the Drip action from the available workflow actions.

Action Name

Enter a descriptive name for the action so it's easy to identify in the workflow builder.

Batch Size

Define how many contacts are processed per batch. You can set this anywhere from a minimum of one to a maximum of ten thousand contacts.

Drip Interval

Set the time interval between batches. You can choose minutes, hours, or days, with options ranging from one minute to seven days.

Once you've set your schedule, click check to get a 10-batch preview.

Save the action to add it to your workflow, and remember to save the workflow to keep your changes.

Practical Example

Say 10,000 contacts enter a workflow, or 5,000 contacts move on from a wait step. To keep things running at a steady pace, you could configure the Drip Action like this:

  • Batch Size: Set to 50 contacts per batch.
  • Drip Interval: Configure an interval of 10 minutes.

This means only 50 contacts move to the next step every 10 minutes, keeping the workflow at a manageable pace without overloading the system.

The Drip Action is particularly useful when handling large volumes of contacts or when a steady pace is needed for the best engagement and results.
