Why We Built NotLuck (And Why "Not Luck" Is the Whole Point)

People ask about the name a lot.

"NotLuck. What does that mean?" "Is it like... bad luck?" "Is it a pun?"

It's simpler than that. The name is a statement. The success you build, the business you grow, the results you get? That's not luck. That's the work you put in, the systems you build, and the decisions you make.

Luck is overrated. Hard work is underrated. That's always been the philosophy.

Where It Started

I've been in the digital and tech space for a long time. I was Director of Global Systems at Just Eat. I've built and sold businesses. I've coached hundreds of business owners through growth, stagnation, and everything in between.

And throughout all of that, I kept seeing the same problem.

Small businesses were drowning in disconnected tools, manual processes, and a lack of systems. They'd have a decent website over here, a spreadsheet for leads over there, Mailchimp for emails, Calendly for booking, and no connection between any of it.

They were generating leads and losing them. Doing great work and forgetting to ask for reviews. Growing their team and scaling their chaos.

The tools existed to fix all of this. CRMs, automation, AI. But nobody was setting them up properly for small businesses. The enterprise world had Salesforce and armies of consultants. Small businesses had a YouTube tutorial and a prayer.

That's why we built NotLuck.

What We Actually Do

We're not a traditional digital agency. We don't just build websites and walk away. We build connected digital systems that make businesses run better.

That means CRM setup and management. Automated follow-up sequences. AI chatbots. Booking systems. Review management. Email marketing. Websites that actually convert. And the integrations that tie it all together.

We handle the whole thing, from strategy to setup to training. Because a tool is only as good as the system around it and the people using it.

Who We Help

Mostly small businesses. Trades, service businesses, coaches, consultants, agencies. Businesses with one to fifty people who need smart systems but don't have a tech team to build them.

We work with businesses across the UK, but we're proudly based in Nottingham. The East Midlands has an incredible small business community and we're glad to be part of it.

The Team

I won't do the whole "meet the team" thing here (there's a page for that), but I will say this: we've built a team of people who genuinely care about doing good work. Oliver, my co-founder, is as versatile as they come. Lee-ann keeps our content and copywriting sharp. The rest of the team brings expertise in web design, project management, and the technical bits that make everything work.

We're small by design. Small means personal. It means you talk to the people doing the work, not a project manager who relays messages. It means we give a toss about your business, not just your invoice.

The AI Bit

AI has been a big part of our story recently. We were early adopters, not for the novelty, but because we saw the practical applications for the businesses we work with.

AI chatbots that handle initial enquiries. Automated content creation that saves hours. Data analysis that informs better decisions. AI-assisted workflow design. These aren't future possibilities. They're things we're doing right now for our clients.

We also run AI workshops in Nottingham, because we believe every business owner should understand what AI can do for them, even if they decide not to use it.

The Name, One More Time

NotLuck isn't a brand name someone came up with in a brainstorming session. It's a belief.

Your business success isn't luck. It's the result of showing up every day, building the right systems, making smart decisions, and refusing to settle for "good enough" when "great" is achievable.

That's what we help you do. Build the systems. Make the decisions. Do the work.

Luck's got nothing to do with it.
